Hay algunas abreviaturas que se suelen usar mucho en inglés (aunque su origen es el latín), que suelo olvidar con facilidad. Acabo de leer el significado de un par de ellas, y para que no se me vuelvan a olvidar, he decidido ponerlo por escrito:
- ie
- id est
- eg
- exempli gratia
Su significado en castellano, sería esto es

respectivamente. Parece ser que suelen ser confundidas de vez en cuando. La wikipedia dice:

(e.g.) and id est
(i.e.) are commonly confused and misused in colloquial English. The former, exempli gratia
